Not sure on the Acumen, but I've got the Datatool and it's great

Mates got a datatool on his R1 and swears by it. A dealer tried to fit a datatool to my 6 and had real trouble, but on sending back to datatool they had TWO knackered units. The only advantage I can see with a Acumen is that you can get a pre wired loom, downsides with it though is the display is smaller than the datatool. I would go with the datatool.

I've got an acumen one. I thought the only difference was that it's blue (goes with my dashboard lights). Still big enough to see what gear you're in. I only use to make sure i'm in 2nd for attempting feeble wheelies and 6th.
I got the datatool revlight as well (£40 each from busters), well worth it. |

Get the acumen with the plug and play harness. You wont have to hack up the factory wiring and you wont have any wiring troubles like everyone else who gets the other type.

Well...... I would have said "Digi- no prob" spot on since i did mine a year and half ago, it's been great. " BUT " after doing my mates last week ( wired up exactly the same ) we had a nitemare, you may have read the thread "Help Needed" last week, where we lost the Neutral light and had trouble calibrating it .... It may be a faulty unit ???? who knows, need to get hold of my mate today and see how he's got on.By the way ... i did'nt get any help, so i guess nobody has encountered any sort of problem like this before I might be inclined to say go with the Acumen

I must admit I was looking at getting the Datatool Digigear indicator, but I didn't want the wiring hacked to bits on an almost new bike. I am quite taken by the Acumen DG8, and if I buy it will definately get the plug and play harness. I must admit it does seem steep at £30 for the harness though.
Big_Deezul have you got the Acumen fitted to your bike? If so any chance of a picture? |

Re: Acumen | ||

I've just been and had a look at my '03 R6 to see what colour the clocks illuminate and it is red. So I reckon on the Acumen colours its going to have to be a red one to blend in. Although I think the blue looks pretty neat.
